A Naxal was killed while two security personnel were injured on Sunday in a gun-battle in insurgency hit Bijapur of Chhattisgarh.
Inspector General of Police (Bastar) Sundarraj P said that the skirmish between security force and Naxals of Central Reorganisation Committee (CRC) and Telangana State Committee took place on Sunday morning around 10:30 am near Bhattiguda village under the Pamed police station limits, on the border with Telangana.
The encounter took place when the patrolling team comprising the District Reserve Guard (DRG), Special Task Force (STF) and CRPF’s Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) personnel, who were carrying out a counter-insurgency operation along the Chhattisgarh-Telangana border since Saturday, was cordoning off a forest at Makrajgatta hill this morning. One Naxal was killed and a huge quantity of explosives etc were found at the spot, the Bastar IGP added.
In the gun-battle, the police team gunned down a Naxal while Haribhushan and Damodar of Telangana State Committee fled for saving their lives, the Bastar IGP claimed.
In this skirmish, CoBRA 204th battalion constable Sandip Ghosh and constable Chandu Kadti of the district police sustained injuries and they were shifted to Raipur for treatment, the IGP further said.
Police team recovered four SBML guns, large quantities of pipe and tiffin bombs, explosive material, Maoist literature and daily use material, IGP further said.
