Continuing its drive against the drug nexus in Chhattisgarh, police in Raipur on Friday arrested a 38-year-old Nigerian from Mumbai in Maharashtra and brought him to the state capital for supplying cocaine and a psychoactive drug ‘Methylenedioxymethamphetamine’ (MDMA) to drug peddlers in Chhattisgarh.
The main drug supplier Patrick UBK Bavko (38), Nigeria based national, has been taken into custody from Mumbai, Raipur Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Kumar Yadav said.
Police recovered two mobile phones from him, the officer added.
Raipur Police have arrested 15 drug dealers involved in illegal drug peddling in October and last month, SSP Yadav said.
These local drug peddlers named Mumbai based Raiden Baithelo and he was recently arrested by Police, Yadav added.
During the questioning, Raiden told police that he purchased MDMA drug from Patrick, a Mumbai-based Nigerian national.
Later on, Patrick been has arrested for his alleged involvement in supplying cocaine and MDMA to the drug peddlers in Raipur, Bilaspur and Durg district of the state, Yadav said.
The arrested accused Patrick confessed to the Police that he purchased MDMA drug from his Nigerian based accomplice Chisom Patrick, with whom he supplies cocaine and MDMA drugs in other states in India, the senior officer further said.
He is being questioned by the police to know about the involvement of other persons in the drug nexus while his mobile phone is to be investigated by the Cyber Cell, he added.
