Chhattisgarh police arrested three absconded accused in connection with hit and run case in which a four-year-old boy was killed and 11 persons were injured on Monday night in Gariaband district of the state.
Gariband Additional Superintendent of Police Sukhnandan Rathore said that the accused identified as Pemendra Sende alias Appu (31), Vesh Rathore alias Pappu (27) and Devendra Thakur alias Vicky (27).
Pemendra hails from Dhamtari and two other accused are residents of Gariaband district.
Acting on the tip-off, three other accused have been arrested from nearby village in the district and presented them at the court from where the court sent them into jail, Rathore added.
The hit and run incident took place on Monday night in Malgaon area in the Kotwali Police Station limits of the district, he said.
Former Mayor Mamta Rathore’s son Romit Rathore had an argument with the victims on a roadside in a village while people were celebrating Dussehra festival, Rathore added.
The verbal spat turned into a minor scuffle and enraged, Romit Rathore and his friends ran away their car (G-23, 6520) for some distance and then drove back at great speed and ran over the crowd. After the gory incident, both escaped in the car. A four-year-old boy identified as Munesh Sinha died and 11 people were injured.
The police had arrested both Romit and Saurabh earlier while other accused were absconding.
