Chhattisgarh police on Thursday arrested three persons for kidnapping a 28-year-old man and making an extortion call of Rs 30 lakh to the family in Chhattisgarh’s state capital. While one accused managed to escape.
Raipur Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Kumar Yadav said that four accused involved in the abduction and three have been arrested.
The arrested accused were identified as Francis Manjhi (32), Piyush Raichura (32) and Aameen Ali (28), all residents of Raipur. While one kidnapper, who managed to escape is identified as Rohan alias Sandeep.
Both Piyush and Aameen resides in Moudahapara locality while Francis resides in WRS Colony in Raipur.
The victim identified as Aamir Sohail was abducted at knifepoint from Shankar Nagar area in the state capital on Wednesday night.
After abduction, his family members started receiving frequent extortion calls from the kidnappers. The abductors asked to pay Rs 30 lakh or face dire consequences.
Following the family members’ complaint, Police lodged a case and started a probe.
Based on the technical analysis of phone numbers and call detail record (CDR) data, police succeeded to nab one of the accused Aameen from Bhatagaon area in Raipur, who was waiting for the victim’s family to get ransom money.
The arrested accused told police regarding the whereabouts of three other kidnappers and the victim. Police rescued the abducted man from the clutches of abductors near the jungles of Ghata Rani at Abhanpur area of the district. Police chased the three accused, who were trying to flee from the spot and arrested two of them. One kidnapper managed to escape.
Police recovered two cars (CG-04, HV-7621 and CG- 04, L K-8394) used in the crime for abduction, rope and knife from their possessions.
