Two accused arrested for illegally transporting cattle in Chhattisgarh’s Bilaspur district, Police seized pick-up van, two mobiles

Chhattisgarh police on Sunday arrested two persons for illegally transporting six cattle in Bilaspur district of the state.

Bilaspur Superintendent of Police Prashant Agrawal said that the accused have been identified as Jaenul Abadin (40) and Saheb Lal Kurre (38), both residents of Bilaspur district.

Acting on the tip-off, the police intercepted a pick van (CG-10, C-9262) near Hemu Nagar bridge under Torva police station limits, the senior officer said.

The accused were arrested for illegally transporting six cattle from Matiyari village to Uttar Pradesh via Silphari village in a pick van, Agrawal added.

A case under sections of Animal Preservation Act and Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act has been lodged against them, he said.

Police seized two mobile phones and a pick-up van used in the crime and further probe is underway, he further said.
